Last week, shortly after Avner’s post on the updated Beta version and the unfortunate lack of AppleTV support (unless you have your SSH teeth fully grown in), the powers that be resurrected the atvusb-creator for Mac.
Yep. You can now, once more, pwn your AppleTV following these super simple instructions, and get the Boxee Beta on that shiny Apple box. In fact, if you already have Boxee Alpha installed, you should be able to just update Launcher and then update Boxee to achieve the same result
Kudos to JimWiley and hillbilly1980 from the Boxee forum for making the original update script, and Amet, davilla and stephan.diederich from Team XBMC and atvusb-creator for fixing the Launcher, SoftwareMenu and the Creator itself, permitting this goodness.
Enjoy, and let these guys know you appreciate their efforts by commenting below and/or here.
** Installing Boxee on your AppleTV simply adds a Boxee option to the main AppleTV menu. Previous AppleTV functionality remains in tact.
we shot the video in Amsterdam during the XBMC DEV CON. it was the first time that team-xbmc came together and met in person to discuss past, present and future. and party.
our camera man, dave, got a bit too much of Amsterdam in him… so some of the video is a bit choppy, but it is still the first ever, never-before-seen, excluisve, on-camera interviews with the people behind xbmc.
we have been fans, users, and for the past year contributors to the XBMC project.
so it is a great honor for us to host the first ever XBMC DEV CON. the event will take place during the weekend of June 13-15 in Amsterdam.
this is an opportunity for XBMC developers that have been working together for the past 6 years to finally meet in person, talk code, discuss priorities, reminisce about the good old days and have some fun. the agenda is still being built, but the important stuff has been finalized
conference location: we’re going to hold the meetings at Graven Molen, a local tapas bar.. the owner was kind enough to close the place for us during the weekend (we also negotiated a great price for the beers)
