Jamie Divine joins Boxee

We’re excited to announce Jamie Divine has joined Boxee as Director of User Experience. Jamie formerly led visual design at Google and helped scale one of the biggest brands in the world. He is responsible for incalculable amounts of user happiness.

At Google, he contributed to 33+ product launches, three major redesigns across Search, Apps, and Mobile, and countless experiments. He set a high standard for usability with best of breed products across several categories.

What makes Jamie special is his passion for creating technology experiences that people love. This expertise is important to us because Boxee represents the future of TV when there is no TV — instead, just various screen sizes and modalities — when new concepts for enjoying media will need to be invented. In this frontier, we’ll depend on Jamie to architect an experience that is seamless, joyful, clever and deserving of our users’ affection.

Live in Downtown Austin? Please let us park in your driveway during SXSW!

Some of the Boxee team will be down in Austin, TX for the South by Southwest Interactive Festival from March 10-17. The five of us are staying in a glistening 31-foot motorhome that we planned to leave at an RV Park close to the conference downtown. But, hell, it turns out the RV Park closed since we made our reservation, so now out of luck and looking for a driveway to park our beautiful beast.

Can you help us out? We’ll be real quiet (only if you want us to be) and we’re open-minded to barter for rent. In return, we ask for 31 feet of pavement and a couple of trees to hang a hammock. It would real cool of you if you let us host a kegger in your front yard.

The Boxee Bookmarklet: Add web videos to your Boxee Queue in one click.

Ever been at work and felt guilty for watching videos of cute kittens? We figured out a way to make you feel better about this — our co-worker Casey Pugh developed the Boxee Bookmarklet which makes it easy to watch those videos later when you’re home alone.

The Bookmarklet lives in your browser toolbar. Click it on any* web page containing a video and we’ll instantly add it to your Boxee Queue, essentially allowing you to watch it later, particularly on your TV. It’s a cinch to use, too. Just drag this link (add to boxee) to your browser toolbar and click it whenever you want to save a video to your Queue. For more detailed instructions, check out this page we whipped up.

This tool is the first step towards a much improved Boxee experience in your browser, making it easier to access and manage your content from anywhere. The first of many steps in 2010.
