**UPDATE** MAY 18 – Boxee version 1.1.1.19092 is now available and rolling out starting today (May 18) through the weekend. This version contains volume control as a setting, and fixes to the way we were processing sound.
So it might only be a few decimal points difference from the current 1.0.4 release, but this version of the Boxee Box by D-Link has quite a few new things under the hood. We’ll be rolling this version out over the next few days to all Boxee Boxes, but if you can’t wait you can find instructions on manually updating your Boxee Box on our forums.
Here’s what we’ve got for you in our fifth update to the Boxee Box:
1) Browser Upgrades
Favorites (Bookmarks) & History – Now you can easily get back to pages you’ve just viewed or ones you visit most often.
New On Screen Display (no auto-full screen*) – We’ve cleaned up the web playback OSD to let you see more of what’s going on in the background and to include access to a few more options down below.
HTML 5 To The Max – We’ve improved our support for HTML 5 so you’ll now be able to access more content, like HBOGO.
2) Movie Trailers – What better way to keep up with the latest movie releases than by watching movie trailers on your TV until your heart’s content.
3) On Screen Display Loses Some Weight – We’ve revamped the OSD and included an awesome new seek bar for precise rewinding/fast forwarding, slimmed down the button count, and made it easier to see what’s going on behind the scenes. We’ve also removed the volume control for a more consistent experience.*
4) Customized Artwork / Info for Media Files - Why let Boxee pick movie art and descriptions when you can have your own? Import video into Boxee and add your own artwork and metadata to accompany it with NFO files. Works like a charm on home movies.
5) Local File Playback - We now have support HFS formatted drives, seek functionality inside music playback, and you can filter local files by source.
6) Share Where You Want – now you can specify whether you want to share that ColdSteel video to Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr with a helpful character counter built-in.
7) MLB.TV Upgrades – This new version has enabled a lot of updates to the MLB.TV app so now you’ll be able to watch live and archived games, jump to specific innings or game events, see pop-up details on every pitch, and have a much easier time rewinding and fast-forwarding in games.
More Languages – The Boxee Box is on sale in 34 countries. While “Boxee” translates well into all of them, the rest of the words on screen are a bit off. Now users can enjoy Boxee in German, French, Italian, Spanish, Swedish, Hebrew, Danish, Dutch, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Portugese (Brazil), Czech, Norwegian, Finnish, Polish.
9) New Content – we threw in some extra content just for good measure.
A team of acclaimed producers create fresh programs on private jets and exotic first-class travel as well as intellectual discussion on money and philanthropy, all in HD.
Committed to finding the world‘s most compelling documentaries, whether from established heavyweights or first-time filmmakers to make them available to the wide audience these titles deserve. SnagFilms serves up full-length documentary films for free.
Conclusion
We hope you like all the changes (full release notes here), and we always love to hear your feedback on Facebook, Twitter, and on our forums.
You may have noticed the * next to the volume and auto full-screen features above. We’ve spent a lot of time discussing internally and have decided to create a more consistent experience by removing features that work inconsistently. While it might not instantly be apparent, over the next few versions we will streamline the interface so that everything works the same, no matter whether you’re in an HTML 5 app, a normal web page, playing a movie file, or watching video from inside an application.
**UPDATE – We have heard from enough passionate users about the volume control functionality that we will be bringing it back via settings in the next update. We will continue to search for an elegant solution that works across content sources as well.
**2ND UPDATE – If your sound isn’t being processed properly in the new version – we have fixed the issue and it will be part of a new version rolling out to users this week (that also includes the volume control update above).

I have over a 1000 DVDs in my collection, about 250 are on my server to view via the BoxeeBox. All was fine last week with the previous firmware. Now the .avi files with .ac3 audio will NOT work, No audio. And I'm extremely pissed off. I hope you fix this real soon.
Maybe for feature release that scan source you can give in that it are only series and the view does not come in the movies sector when identifying it.
For instance my serie damages are displayed at the movies section and then you have to delete each DVD at the movie section
Other example my serie HOUSE is also displayed as the old horror movie HOUSE
I've been an avid user of Boxee since it was an alpha product, I was so excited to hear that 1.0 had come out on the Boxee box, and was hoping to see 1.0 on PC and Mac, but it still hasn't happened, Boxee, when will you be released for Mac, PC, and Linux, does anybody have any information on this, Boxee is my favorite media organizer / center, other than iTunes, and I want to see progress on it
Prior to the 1.1.1.19092 upgrade, I used the up/down/left/right controls on my Boxee Box remote heavily to control volume, and fast forward and rewind. Now it is a complete pain in the ass. Even with the audio control setting enabled, changing the volume is slow compared to before. Also, what happened to the large flash forward? I liked being able to skip ahead 10 minutes or so.
I have been recommending my other friends with Boxee Boxes NOT apply this update.
+1
Sorry for my poor english. I see here only critics on last update, but i'm very satisfied with 1.1.1.19092. No slow streaming issues, no audio problems, big plus for czech language (though slovak language would be even greater plus) and for more movie info like movie trailers and actors. Keep up the good work!!!
I have been hoping to see continuous playback of video files in a single folder like it does for the Music files, in this release. It is pain to play every Video file individually when viewing music videos
Prior to the 1.1.1.19092 upgrade, the AVI video playback works like a charm. Now all of the video are very choppy …almost unwatchable. Hope you fix this problem in the next roll up….
Cutting to certainly the chase, Fast Five will make a mad work at the box office. I am watching Fast Five Online right now here.
I've gotta say that I've had zero problems with my Boxee Box update to 1.1. I have two 2TB HD hooked up to it and everything is going through my Yamaha receiver with the HDMI cable. My ISO's play perfectly and so does my Netflix.
I'm sorry to see so many other people are having problems, but I wanted to let the Boxee team and other readers know that not everyone is having problems.
Boxee is the best dust catcher I`ve eber seen
I"m a relativly new user, running the latest update of Boxee Box.. I have 2 distinct problems that I"m looking for help with.. My "APPS" section constantly disappears when I power down the box.. Trying to restore the APPS Netflix etc takes jumping through hoops like changing error log settings or fiddling with other settings and powering down and restarting each time.. I can't turn the box off at night..instead I have to put it in "sleep" mode. Also… morre recently.. when using the browser to look at web pages.. my cursor has disappeared.. I can see it intermittently when the page is loading (it is black) but once the page is loaded.. it's not there.. This makes navigating a web page impossible…
I had tried to address the disappearing APPS section with support, but after trying to send the error logs I didn't get anywhere.. Is there an answer to this…??
running version 1.1.2.19250 and the box is just a month old..

Thats all great now if you could just allow PC version users to use NFO files and local cached artwork, like xbmc has been doing since day one, i would switch to boxee
U NEED TO BRING BACK THE VOLUME CONTROLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!! I MISS IT ALREADY……………………….
I have a Boxee Box and after the last software update (January 2012) it's impossible to fast forward or rewind any of the .VOB files on the attached hard drive. Is anyone else having this problem?
