Unfortunately I think Rico is right. The development has been painfully slow and I suspect larger companies are about to eat boxee alive. But hey it's free and open source. I have boxee on my HTPC but i usually end up using firefox. I "want" boxee to succeed but I fear it will end up being an obscure geek toy. My main concern is from google tv. Since it is open source as well. So that kinda leaves boxee in the cold.
And honestly XBMC still runs better. Which is sad cause boxee is built off it. I know boxee is a social platform as well. But it just doesn't run very well.

Good thing boxee is software and not a sky scraper. Beautiful thing about software is that it can change... of course the market and community will make the call.

My guess is that Boxee will be the first to pioneer most of the new functions and features in the IPTV industry, on a large scale and with open-source availability before other industry leaders. I believe Boxee will actually be recognized as "the standard" and beginning of the industry, even by it's competitors once Boxee starts actually competing.

Most companies will be more concerned about people installing modifications and hacking their product rather than implementing new features to their product... they are too concerned about people being able to download and watch online content at their own leisure, WITHOUT commercial interruption... where will the money come from without people being fed advertisements almost every second of the day??

Securing revenues is ALL Google and Apple are concerned with... Boxee's focus is more on functionality and implementation. I'd choose Boxee any day with choices like these.
