Google Buzz Now on Boxee

We’re happy to announce today that Boxee users can now share recommendations with Google Buzz.

Since the official Google Buzz launch back in February, the platform has gained momentum with Gmail users who share status updates, photos, videos and more with friends on the social platform.  Google has done a great job of making the interface flow nicely, and it integrates well with Google Reader and Gmail. If you’re not a Buzz user,  you’ve most likely seen Google Buzz buttons popping up on some of your favorite sites next to Twitter’s “tweet this” and Facebook’s “like” buttons.  It was time to bring Buzz to Boxee.

Today at Google’s I/O Conference, Google introduced a brand new Google Buzz API. Boxee has been working with Google to help test the API and today we’re ready to introduce an exciting new application. Boxee users will be able to share what they’re watching with friends on Google Buzz and to import their Buzz feed into Boxee to watch video from their friends.  Now you can see video recommendations from friends on Google Buzz, Twitter, Facebook, and Boxee itself… it’s like being able to channel surf through water-cooler conversation from your couch.

Link your Google Buzz account from Boxee’s services page and try it out for yourself.

    +1

  3. Billy_McSkintos says:

Nobody gives a toss, just release the bloody box.

The “social” aspect of Boxee is the first thing I turn off and the thing i’ll never use. I’m being lazy watching TV or crappy videos of dogs dreaming and kids with bitten fingers. I don’t want to share that with the world…

      • Desert Dingo says:

Ditto ten-fold+. I’m watching PC-TV to be entertained, not to social ‘twitter-and tink’.

    • CrisJ says:

Totally agree, all that social stuff is useless to me and the people I was thinking of buying this thing for. They need something simple and easy to use not facebook/twitter integrated garbage.

I said “thinking of buying” because we haven’t heard anything from the boxee team except stupid pictures and new ways for us to pay them…

Wow google buzz.. thats exactly what I didn’t care about either.

Dropped the ball boxee, ignoring us like this.

  4. Mike Reyher says:

Mac Mini is my boxee box and it works like a charm.

  5. user018 says:

We were supposed to have an update on the boxee box release date over a week ago

  6. Cracks wyte says:

Ya, I seen where boxee was having a meeting with d-link,
but haven’t seen or heard anything from it! I’m just about to
order the pop box, but want to hold out because of the integra 2
gpu in the boxee box. And the remote design is great. I want to
put my flat screen to work.

  7. Jim says:

    Boxee Box: vaporware?

  8. Holiday with dogs says:

    +7

  9. Nikolas says:

I’d be interested to see whether Boxee also has plans to incorporate similar functionality as the latest announcements from Google/Sony into their forthcoming Boxee box, see:

  10. RballPro says:

Forget about the BOXEE Box, when does the remote come out.

    • user018 says:

This is getting ridiculous. You guys are losing customers by keeping us out of the loop.. popbox here I come.

  11. 好久没来了,来送你新的祝福啊 呵呵
    有空来看看我哦,

  12. Andrew c says:

We need a release date already, or some info.
This is becoming stupid! Boxee, you are losing
customers and anybody that thinks your box is
going to be a smash! Stop trying to church things
up by posting about google buzz,!.?,! Awsome!
Are we going to have anything to run it except
laptops or pc’s? The box is a excelent design with
the remotes design, it has alot of market potintial.
But your losing more and more interest by keeping
people in the dark. If the box is having trouble being
manufactured, or won’t turn on, or the software is
messed up, let us know. I know we do not have to
told anything, but shed some light! I’m not the only
one wondering what the hech is going on.

    • Patrick says:

Agreed…but you know**. This probably doesn’t have much to do with boxee itself, but more with google tv. By default, google has a bigger, broader, beefier audience and whatever they’re unveiling will be unveiled shortly. What we’ve seen of boxee (so far) has proven itself to be awesome, but the audience it has is not that of a google…probably not that of even an inferior Apple TV.

I’m getting really tired of the wait too. I am seriously contemplating just getting a mac mini and being done with the whole deal. At least you know that will play EVERYTHING…period. But I’m at least willing to see what comes during say WDC in the next 2 weeks maybe even 2 months.

I think that’s fair enough for me, seeing as how the thing was shown in early January.

  13. Trevor says:

drop everything and release a boxee box ^_^

  14. Jack says:

It is interesting blog! In addition, I come!

  15. Coletta Kemph says:

I found the photo I posted on buzz aggregated here http://buzzeater.net/image-gallery. Is my buzz stream public? Isn’t this against privacy?

    • Andrew says:

Coletta – you are correct that what you share is public.
We try to make this really clear in both the account synching (”NB – whatever you share will be public”) and the account setting (”Publish what i share publicly on Google Buzz”)
