Over the past few months we’ve been working closely with D-Link to really get to know the Boxee Box. We’ve been running experiments in our lab in Tel Aviv, and well, the results have been astounding.
One Israeli researcher, Rafi Mizrahi, has developed a special bond with the Boxee Box… he feeds it, polishes it, takes it on walks, tucks it in at night. Rafi’s special “TLC” has dramatically influenced the Boxee Box’s progression from small standalone set top box to something much more…
This specific Boxee Box has grown to 5 times normal size. It’s shed its austere black exterior for Boxee neon green, and taken a bath in Boxee logos. Not content with a normal Boxee Box’s HDMI and optical audio connections, the Box has developed its own “limbs” in the form of speakers and an HD monitor. It even has an IR port for that sexy Boxee Remote. Here’s a picture of Rafi taking the “Boxeecus Maximus” out for a walk in sunny Tel Aviv.
If you see this Box in the wild without a handler, please report it to us immediately as it has been known to wander into local bars in hopes of picking up “content providers”.

OK, so when can we buy one already??? I've been waiting and waiting and you guys have been pretty silent on it.
I think the problem is that NVIDIA has not yet finalized their Tegra 2 chip. Have you seen any Tegra 2 device in the wild yet? I guess they have so much trouble getting Fermi out the door that the release of Tegra 2 got postponed.
BOXEE Rocks though. I couldn’t wait and I put together and HTPC already, but I would probably buy the Box for downstairs.

How soon until we can get-to-know the Boxee Box?? I'm trying to hold off buying a set top box (or building one from parts) until I see the price / final config. Any more details or updates since the hardware spec came out?

Geez, you guys really don't know your customer do you? I've given up hope I'll ever hear of an actual release date, let alone get the product itself. At this point I've realized I don't even need what you're offering (in theory) since I'm getting by just fine without any clue of what you guys have been doing for the last year.
How about some info guys, instead of silly sporadic posts.
Do any of you have any, ANY idea at ALL, how hard it is to ship a product like this in a timely fashion? I don't see you doing anything but complaining, and it's hard enough for developers like myself to deal with a community that is always asking when something is coming or why something is the way that it is.

It's 5 months after CES and still nothing. I'm glad I bought an Acer Revo 3610 to use as a HTPC. Run Boxee beta and a whole lot more.
If you can't ship soon, STFU. Don't pre-announce a product 6 months in advance. Announce it when you are ready to ship. If not, DON'T. Geez. Don't you guys learn ANYTHING from apple? As crippled the AppleTv is, it shipped and people are using it.
By pre announcing it so far ahead, you have created impatient users and lost the buzz.
based on your post and other posts in this thread it seems more like they've created a bunch of rabid lunatics who will throw their $200 bills at them the second it's available whether they got a netbook or a roku in the meantime or not.
Don't you think they should be happy about a loyal following that is patiently waiting for this device instead? Doesn't it tell you that there is a pent up demand at least with these 'rabid lunatics' for a device like this?
Wow, bunch of complaints. You guys forget that Boxee is still in BETA. I highly doubt the staff of Boxee will launch a product with beta software on it. There's still 7 1/2 months left in the year. They only promised a '2010' release. CALM DOWN.

For one, Boxee is at the mercy of the manufacturer. The manufacturer is at the mercy of the parts suppliers. There are about 3 hundred other steps along the way that can delay a product like this and none of it is because they want to delay it.
While it would be nice to get some more solid info about when to expect it, the likely reason we haven't heard is because they don't know yet and are not going to make an official announcement about when they THINK it MIGHT be ready to mass produce. The second they are wrong you guys would lose your minds all over again.
For something no one has paid any money for you guys sure like to complain.

We're having a meeting with D-Link next week to work out dates on availability and hope to make an announcement quickly after that. Thanks for your patience and as soon as we have concrete details we'll share them.
Thanks for the update Andrew; you did say that the Box was coming out at the end of 2nd quarter which I think means June 30th, so people can complain if the Box comes out after that.

The super sized article is such a tease. It pissed me off. We've been waiting for so long. I truly thought I would have about 2 in my home by now. So tired of waiting. Not too excited about the boxee box anymore. Don't put ads or articles like this up anymore. Which I assume was suppose to be comical. Bad move. Boxee people need to talk to Dlink people and Dlink people need to talk with whom ever to get this damn thing in our houses already . This isnt funny at all.

I've been waiting 3 months for one of these. I'm about ready to give up. Not because I don't want one or I cant "wait". But I hate when companies play games. Just give us a release date already. Some of are getting tired of left in the dark and will just get a different top up box. I don't do hype
It's mid-may, I figured that I would have a boxee box within the next 6 weeks or so. I've held off on getting cable tv or an htpc for three months since getting my new tv because I was wating for boxee in Q2. I don't have enough money for multiple units and I'm tired of waiting. I realize that Boxee doesn't "owe" me anything, but the (assumed) delay has cost them a sale and a whole lot of word of mouth. If there's no ETA by June 30, I'm out.

Well just like the rest of you I'm pretty much done. Ive been running S-video with my terry for five months now waiting for this thing. If there isnt any word by the end of may Im out to buy a Popbox. They at least have there sh1t together. Cleary Boxee is ahead of its time and these Boxee Boys dont have much to say so I guess its another customer lost.

Seriously, I can't believe how many whiners there are in this thread, its ridiculous! It's YOUR guys' problem if you can't handle the apparently overwhelming stress associated with knowing something exists but that you can't have it. Seriously, kinda lame, guys. Major companies announce new products months or years in advance on a regular basis, and these very same products have release dates that are also frequently pushed back. This is all the nature of the game, it is not that unusual. Have some patience! They haven't even surpassed their original expected release date yet!
Listen bitchlips I just want to know something anything about how much longer its gonna be. It would be in Boxeez best interest to let there customers or in this case future customers know what to expect. But if thats asking too much then I'm out!
A lot of us in this thread want the Boxee box to succeed. Have you ever seen Apple pre-announce a product 6 months in advance? They announce it when they are ready to ship and they ship it. Very rarely do companies do this pre announcing part so ahead of time, unless they feel threatened.
What effectively has happened here is a bunch of loyal users are upset about the wait and want to lay hands on it ASAP.
I don't see anything wrong with that. Boxee and D-Link should do everything they can to ship this product. By delaying it, they are not helping any one other than their competitors.
Right, they're delaying this on purpose. What were they thinking by not shipping out something that is presumably finished already? They should stop holding what is apparently a final product and ship it immediately.
