The Boxee Bookmarklet: Add web videos to your Boxee Queue in one click.

Ever been at work and felt guilty for watching videos of cute kittens? We figured out a way to make you feel better about this — our co-worker Casey Pugh developed the Boxee Bookmarklet which makes it easy to watch those videos later when you’re home alone.

The Bookmarklet  lives in your browser toolbar. Click it on any* web page containing a video and we’ll instantly add it to your Boxee Queue, essentially allowing you to watch it later, particularly on your TV. It’s a cinch to use, too. Just drag this link (add to boxee) to your browser toolbar and click it whenever you want to save a video to your Queue. For more detailed instructions, check out this page we whipped up.

This tool is the first step towards a much improved Boxee experience in your browser, making it easier to access and manage your content from anywhere.  The first of many steps in 2010.

* Temporarily, while we continue to develop the Bookmarklet, it’s compatible with only the following sites:

    Amazing feature. Thank you!

  2. Alex says:

Please add support for the TED site. That's my most used video site where I would want this awesome feature.

  3. mdpauley says:

Awsome thanks… Is there anyway to see what is in the queue in a browser?

  4. eerwin says:

it works on the alpha version?????

  5. Tim Thraeryn says:

This is an excellent addition to what is largely becoming indispensable software in my household. :D Thanks!

This a great feature. I added and tested it immediately.

    This is a great product.

  8. Flickr and Photobucket video support would be great. Love the beta! Thanks for this new feature (allowing me to no longer have to add things to Instapaper then bring them into Boxee via an RSS feed).

Now once you get support for other video streaming sites like Megavideo zdnet … we'll be set!

  13. Oz says:

Now add TV tuner support, the ability to play Media Center shows and make it faster and I will switch to Boxee. Its just too slow playing videos, fast forwarding etc compared to other apps.

  14. brett says:

I was just thinking of this feature the other day! Great job!

  15. Cygnusx1 says:

Hmm… Doesn't seem to be working at Mtv.com. With Firefox anyways…

  16. niccai says:

Does it work only with those sites, or videos shared from those sites?

My curiosity is stirred; I will write in more detail if someone will answer. My website might have some clues as to ways in which we might help each other. MJR

  18. Steven Rollason says:

I mentioned this on the forum, but in case it got missed, it seems that this bookmarklet gets the wrong thumbnail for YouTube videos. For all the ones I've tried the thumbnail image seems to be the one for a random video from the "related videos" list on that video's page on YouTube.

  19. Hannes says:

Just brilliant. Definitely something that I've wanted for a while – I had even considered creating a solution myself.

Now only if I could just use Boxee ;) ..it keeps crashing when I try to launch it.

  20. axiom says:

almost exactly what ive been waiting for! playlists would be nice to have

  21. john says:

  22. Hey Guys,

I'm pleased to announce that we've also added support for the Boxee Bookmarklet in Shareaholic for Firefox!

    Get it here: http://www.shareaholic.com/tools/firefox/

We plan to build it into our Chrome extension too!

  23. guest says:

totally misunderstood what "watch it later" does. I thought it stored the videos to watch later. I have an Ipad without 3g. Imagine my horror when I could not watch my videos later.
