AnyClip on boxee

AnyClip is a new service that is currently in private alpha, so only some users will be able play with it (in the meantime you should check out their facebook app, Casting Couch).
AnyClip is obtaining rights for short clips from your favorite movies and TV shows (you can read about that painful process in their CEO’s blog). the result should serve as a great platform for users to share their favorite moments with their friends and the world, and for developers to build great apps that integrate these clips.
i am friends with both Aaron Cohen and Nate Westheimer from AnyClip, so i am looking forward to seeing AnyClip launch their service (and API), so we could get it tightly integrated with boxee.
AnyClip in their own words:
AnyClip will launch later this year as a comprehensive library of legally-licensed scenes from Hollywood movies. While we’re still in active negotiations with the rights holders of the films, this preview-only Boxee application begins to show the potential behind tying such a powerful platform to applications like Boxee. Ultimately, applications like AnyClip for Boxee will enable people to relive any moment, from any film, on any platform.

Avner,
We’re excited to be a part of it. Just to be clear, we don’t intend to get the rights to short clips. We intend to get the rights to every film that has ever been made ever. Then we will have the rights to provide teh consumer with the precise moment that they want to relive and share. We don’t want nor will we have the rights to show films in their entirety. That’s Netflix or Hulu’s domain. We do however want people to relive short moments of less than 5 minutes in length from anything film they can ever remember. And we want them to watch and share those moments wherever they want including in their living room.
That’s why want to integrate with Boxee.
See you soon,
Interface is cheap and childish, it looks
like the prototype was designed by high-school kid who is learning how to put a button on webpage.
The Logo really sucks. Black background looks really cheap. Looks like bunch of kids are trying to compete with world leaders. Good Luck.
