Michael O’Keefe in his own words about building The Daily Kitten boxee app:

I’m a big boxee fan and when I heard that the API for building apps had been published I was really excited to give it a try. Fortunately I had some great content (kittens!) to share with everyone, so I just dove in.

The API documentation provided a good starting point but the ability to examine other apps by looking at their source files allowed me to understand some of the finer points of building an app. I did have to write a couple of fairly simple data feeds from the TheDailyKitten.com server, but they were very similar to my existing RSS feed so it wasn’t too much trouble.

I’m really happy with how the app turned out. It’s really easy to navigate through the pictures with the remote and the kittens look great on a big-screen TV.
