video of the boxee meetup in San Francisco
thanks for thor and and the rest of the GetSatisfaction team for putting together the first boxee meetup. it was an opportunity for us to share some of the history and thinking behind boxee, discuss our ideas for future releases and get feedback directly from users.
we had a great time and we’re going to repeat with more boxee meetups in other cities.

boxee meetup in Atlanta would be awesome!
Please add a stop for Toronto!
Keep up the excellent work.
Peace,
Tranceparance
I like it a lot that you video it.
In the Netherlands the love boxee and we al watch the video.
Keep up the good work. You guys are better all ready better then the big names. (Apple,Microsoft, sony and more)
IMHO Boxee is the best media center around, it incorporates all the technology vectors we will see in the next few years. I hope it gets more and more attention so we can get the best software with the best hardware.
Right now it’s complicated to get a hw going in your TV set for HD content, unless you build up a computer yourself. Mac mini, for instance, is not powerfull enough to run full hd content. ATV is even worst if we`re talking about HD content. And buy a PC/Mac for Boxee is not an ideal solution for the average Joe.
Apple TV is not a successfull product from Apple, and in the last quarter it’s selling a lot more. I do believe this is Boxee related and I hope Apple figure this out and release a new version, with powerfull ION processor and proper support for Boxee team to incorporate their software with an open SDK. I know we will also need to figure out a way to use GPU acceleration, but my guess is that this is coming…
Thanks for the great work guys, I’m a huge fan from Brazil.
Regards,
That was very informative! Thanks for posting.
While the additional functionality sounds very promising, I would advise focusing primarily on improving the stability and performance of the existing feature set.
i agree re stability and performance. we need to hunt down the open issues.
First of all, thanks so much for the video!
I agree to focus on improving the stability and performance before anything else! I’m very happy to hear the acknowledgment from Ronen that Boxee is very poor when it comes to recognizing music, (I haven’t been getting much responses in the forums or getsatisfaction) so I think before moving on to more features, getting the music function to work should be a priority!
By the way, +1 on the queue idea, or some other way to just turn boxee on and have something ready to watch.
And -1 on the games, I don’t see Boxee needing games at all, I mean if I’m in Boxee its because I want to watch something, or listen to music, but games…. nah
Finally, thanks Ronen for slipping the details on March 5th release
I’m excited!
we have a long TODO list on both stability, usability and improving the video experience, so Music and Photos are in secondary priority right now (beside Pandora, which i think will be super great on boxee..)
I think grooveshark also does something similar to pandora with their autoplay feature… and i heard your already working with them to get it on Boxee, so awesome
Top of my wishlist for this year to complete my Home Theatre System would be a system based upon the Nvidia Ion (for now) with Linux Boxee (or rumoured new ATV).
Boxee-Ubunutu optimized where Boxee is the front end.
Group based (party) gaming would complete the system.
This looks to be the year where boxee and the right hardware will meet.
@ Larry I agree with you.
The PS3 is now the best hardware to run Boxee.
I think for both PS3 and 360 someone would need to port ffmpeg/xbmc for PowerPC. From what I’ve read, that’s a long way from happening :/
PS3 RockS!
Thanks for sharing. That was EXACTLY what I had in mind.
