Hulu, CBS, Comedy Central and what’s next

with the latest release of boxee we’ve enhanced the experience, offering our alpha testers the ability to stream TV Shows, Movies and clips from sites like CBS, Comedy Central and Hulu. we think it is a big step towards making boxee a true alternative to expensive Cable/Sat subscriptions, as well as to those who revert to downloading pirated content. by making shows like CSI, Southpark or Heroes available for instant streaming, in good quality and with limited commercial interruptions we believe CBS and Hulu are helping make paying for Cable or pirating content both irrelevant.

while we don’t currently have a formal relationship with either content provider, we know that partnerships like these are what people want (x# of requests and counting). we hope to work closely with them in order to improve the experience and bring more content with even better quality to our users.

if you’re an alpha tester please tell us what other shows, services, content you’d like to see as part of boxee.

if you’re a content owner/aggregator and would like to have your content on boxee please contact us. boxee is an open-platform and we’ll work with you to bring your shows, movies, music, and business model to it.

http://www.crunchyroll.com will be awesome, it's the Hulu of anime and Asian TV show + movies. Very popular among anime fans and they also have official companies support.

YouPorn and RedTube. I know it's not as popular as any of the Primetime networks, but I think adult content has its place. A plugin very similar to that for YouTube would probably be about right.

  3. Guy says:

ABC Network shows and CW Shows!

In the USA, I want to watch all the German language TV programs/movies/news/documentaries, etc. on this website:

    http://www.arte.tv/de/Willkommen/70.html

I want to bypass the expensive and crappy American cable TV channels….. I do not want to have to pay $$$$ for channels I do not want. I want to be able to choose exactly what I want to watch.

Stuff found online is much, much better quality. Please make sure it is much cheaper than cable. Any streaming German language TV stations would be very nice.

    hi,

i've just installed the latest boxee version (0.9.3383) on my apple tv, but don't seem to have access to hulu and other content mentioned above (should be under videos/internet…)

would really love to try it out!

keep up the awesome work, you rock.

    SPORTS.

To the be TRUE alternative to cable/SAT you've got to find a way to get college and NFL football on Boxee.

I have no clue how, other than ESPN360… too bad you can't just talk to the NCAA conferences (SEC, BIG10, PAC10 ect) and get them to share their signal online for boxee users. That would be best b/c all of the conferences now have their own channels and their agreements (I believe) allow them to use the broadcast as they see fit….

Anyway, that's the only reason I have a Comcast account to watch my college team every Saturday. Once that is covered you've got the entire market.

  7. LIVE stuff would be really nice… support for USTREAM, Stickam and Qik services/streams would be cool additions. I would second the need for a LIVE news stream (or streams) like Fox/CNN/MSNBC, etc.

    Thanks!

avner – would love to work with you guys to make 8tracks mixes readily available. Let me know if you're interested (dp@8tracks.com).

  9. John McWilliams says:

My main interest is watching HD movies. Is Apple TV even capable of doing 1080p?

I just installed yesterday, so feeling my way around.

  10. avner says:

@john if you're big into HD i would recommend a Mac Mini

I'll join the request for RTVE.es (Public Spanish TV) integration into Boxee. That would be wonderful. I am using Boxee on AppleTV and can't tell you how excited I am about what you guys are doing. It would be great if a user (with some development skill) could be able to re-format the rtve.es outputs and make them work as an Boxee's input source. Instead of waiting for a Boxee's update. Is that doable?

I wanted to comment and thank the author, good stuff

  13. Bera says:

I've never given this a try, but I think it's about time I do.

  14. Alvador says:

    Appreciate the info guys, thanks

#13 #111 if you are interested on watching rtve shows on your boxee system you can give a try to a feed i've been creating, just go to the "My feeds" section on boxee and add http://boxee-rtve.appspot.com/
