i am at 4TB overall, so i am catching up with you... :)

you're right though. people like collecting stuff, so it's not just about technology and prices. it's also about psychology.

but even in Sweden where you have 100Mb and some 1Gb to the home, once you're out of the home you're down to 3G speeds and 3G pricing.. free ubiquitous WiFi still has long ways to go

I enjoy both, and in my opinion one does not exclude the other.

Sweden meets all those streaming requirements you listed (not planes yet but yes on subways, trains, cars, and rural areas). Here in Sweden anyone who wants it can get 100Mb (and some 1Gb) unlimited and priced reasonably wired broadband internet, or Turbo 3G wireless. Norway, Denmark and Finland are not far behind this bandwidth bliss we enjoy in Sweden.

PS! I am still a broadband hamster; I collect and save almost everything I download (onto a small 5TB computer in a closet that I use as Networked Attatched Storage, and I think everyone eveyone should have some type of NAS at home that is networked to all devices in your house). http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=NAS
