I know I'm a little late to the party (well a lot late) but I want to try this on my new Apple TV. Anyway I could download the software and start playing?

I downloaded Boxee under Mac OS X 10.5.4. I got error notifications and everything went wrong. I cannot install Boxee on my Mac. There is a big bug.
