XBMC DEV CON (hosted by boxee :-))
we have been fans, users, and for the past year contributors to the XBMC project.
so it is a great honor for us to host the first ever XBMC DEV CON. the event will take place during the weekend of June 13-15 in Amsterdam.
this is an opportunity for XBMC developers that have been working together for the past 6 years to finally meet in person, talk code, discuss priorities, reminisce about the good old days and have some fun. the agenda is still being built, but the important stuff has been finalized
- hotel: we’ll be staying at the Golden Tulip Inn
- conference location: we’re going to hold the meetings at Graven Molen, a local tapas bar.. the owner was kind enough to close the place for us during the weekend (we also negotiated a great price for the beers)
- Friday night: drinks & dinner at club11
- Saturday night: drinks, dinner & party at the Supper Club

I’ll try to attend the drink on June the 14th,
I’m always up for some boozing
I’ve been using XBMC ever since it was still named XBMP,
I know some people in the irc chan, and I used to be an xbox-linux official free installer.
I’m very curious about the boxee project, what a great idea to use XBMC as a foundation for this project.
I hope to learn more about it in the future!
And since Amsterdam is only a few hours on the train away for me, I’ll be sure to get there

Just so that there are no misunderstandings it should be noted that with the exception of the meeting Team-XBMC for drinks on the evening of June the 14th part, the rest of this years XBMC DEV CON is not an open event. To clarify; this years XBMC developers conference is only for Team-XBMC members and boxee employees. Maybe later this year or next year we will be able to have all an event that will be open for everyone.

Wow, that really sucks. 2 weeks notice? Really? It would have been awesome to meet the xbmc team but 2 weeks notice is NO TIME. It is normal to tell your boss you are taking a vacation 6 weeks in advance. On top of that, buying plane tickets only 2 weeks in advance is uber expensive. Hopefully they’ll have another one next year and they won’t wait until the last minute to notify the community.
sorry for the confusion. this is a meet of XBMC developers. one of the items to discuss is putting together the first user-conference.
I’m the original designer of the XBMC identity, and did the inital UI concepts that led to Chokemaniac’s PMIII skin. Do you think it would be useful to attend this dev conference?

The email was very clear on the type of event this would be, I don’t mind that we don’t attend the dev conference, since we shouldn’t be there, if you wanna leave suggestions and other good ideas, do so on the forums, they save you a trip to Amsterdam
But still, since it’s really close to where I live, I’ll try to attend the drink, and kick dragon a lil’ if he’s attending
