gimme coffee

i realize that this is a start-up related blog, but most of what i write about are flights and coffee. i think that when i will look back on this period it will be much of what i remember: tight legroom and high dosage of caffeine (not always good).

moving to the new SoHo office sent us on a quest for the best coffee shop in the area. luckily we found it rather quickly. it is gimme coffee on Mott between Spring and Prince.

they are local (Ithaca, NY), organic, farmer friendly, etc. all the good stuff. i also buy their coffee and make it at home.

open letter to c. david cush, president and ceo of virgin america

dear mr. cush,

i recently became acquainted with your airline following my partners’ high praises, and to sum it up in one word: WOW. you actually brought sadness, not fun, to my flying experience, considering i need to do my long-haul, international travel with other airlines, and suffer the general stagnation this business reeks of (literally reek in some cases).

love the mood lighting. love RED, the coolest in-flight entertainment system, ever, beta tagged, linux based, of course. chillout tracks in the lavatory. leg room. décor straight out of kubrik flicks circa 1970, including for the e-ticket terminals at the airport.

love it all.

unluckily, i managed to have the worst ever flight on the best airline: after a very intensive day, red-eye in a non-reclining seat on a bumpy flight.

you ask “How would you design an airline?“.

obviously you can’t do much about the bumpy ride.

let try this though:

i would design an airline free of the abomination known as non-reclining seats.

new office in NYC

adriana limawe moved to a new office in the city. like in our Tel Aviv office we focused on location, location, location. so our home base is now at the heart of SoHo, which means:

  • coffee and pastry from Balthazar Bakery
  • sandwiches from Dean & Deluca
  • and most important. on the left is a picture of one of our upstairs neighbors (Adriana Lima)… a top-tier model agency occupies the floor above us, representing some of the hottest models in the market.. there is a very slow elevator ride, which should give us plenty of time to work on our flirting skills.
