the last couple of weeks have been kind of crazy.
all focused on making the deadline and launch the Boxee Alpha before the New Year.
so it is now official. the alpha is ready.
at this stage it is a friends & family oriented alpha, but once we run through the initial bug fixes we will open it up for more users.
we tried to focus on a basic set of features that will enable us to come out with the product quickly (if you can call a year’s effort quick…) and then add/remove features and prioritize based on actual user feedback.
as you can notice we are still a bit hush-hush about what we’re actually doing.. but if you want to join the Alpha list just go to boxee.tv and fill your email.
my MacBook died a sudden death.
it got stuck. i rebooted. but it never came back.
in the Apple store on 5th avenue it was diagnosed with a failed hard-drive.
the MacGenius at the Bar said there is no hope for my data. that i can leave it there and come back for it in 5-7 days… i was in denial. not willing to accept.
i brought it back to the office. let it rest a bit. but it refused to wake up.
reluctantly i signed up for Apple ProCare, which means that i’ll get it back later today. just in time for my flight to Israel, but with an empty hard-drive and no time to load it with movies.
must say that Apple’s service is great on all fronts. too bad the products are not as good.
these are intense times in boxee-land. we are working around the clock to release an alpha version by the end of the year (11:59pm on Dec 31st..).
time is too short..
the bug list is too long…
like any other software project that ever existed
